From the Editor-In-Chief
Journal of African Traditions & Development (JATAD)
Fall Edition 2010
Theme: Cultural Renewal
JATAD is published every Fall for now.

Therefore, it is that time again for contributors to send in their articles for publication.

This is an academic peer review journal that is soliciting articles from all who have interest in the revival, development, promotion and preservation of African cultures including the general economic development of Africa. Also, those who have some questions on any particular aspect (s) of African cultures, traditions and development are welcomed to bring up such issues in their treatises on Africa. Professionals and traditionalists are specifically requested to send in their contributions. JATAD will take every article on any subject under the sun for referral, will publish provided the article meets the focus of the Journal, abides strictly by the rules as set out in the Editorial Policy, and was found publishable.

Another important and interesting feature in the next and subsequent issues of JATAD is the section on African traditional Marriage Rites. In an attempt to save the various marriage Rites and Rituals that people are beginning to forget, this Journal is asking for write-ups on the primordial Rites for publication as a way to preserve them for posterity. Those Rites and Rituals are the secret of lasting marriages in Africa. Submission of articles to JATAD is on going.

Editorial Policy
The Journal of African Traditions and Development (JATAD) is a scholarly journal devoted to the examination of issues related to the culture and traditions of Sub-Saharan Africa and the peoples of African descent. It aims at encouraging the promotion and analysis of the indigenous African cultures and traditions of the people. JATAD is published once annually in the Fall, for now, by Onima Institute for Tradition and Development USA, Inc., a nonprofit corporation whose vision is the rehabilitation, revival, development, preservation, and promotion of African traditions, traditional institutions, language and ideas through research and educational activities.

A refereed Journal, JATAD publishes theoretical and/or empirical articles or treatises on any subject as long as it is properly related to our focused subjects, culture, traditions, customs and over all development of Africa.

JATAD is committed to the principle that knowledge of Self is the key to understanding others and bases for exchanging knowledge and ideas between different cultures. JATAD is thus intended to be a medium for providing a forum for scholars of all nationalities to explore, communicate and foster innovations in societal development as well as promotion and preservation of African cultures, traditions and customs.

The articles in The Journal of African Traditions and Development express individual opinions of the authors and do not represent the viewpoints of Onima Institute, JATAD or its editors. JATAD is committed exclusively to bringing to its readers a universal spectrum of ideas on the subjects, cultures and traditions of Africa, with thoughtful opinions by scholars, professionals and practitioners.
